Lupini Beans

Lupini beans (also written as lupin) are a legume increasingly used in grain-free dog foods as a protein and fibre source. They have a high protein content and a good amino acid profile relative to other legumes, and are also high in dietary fibre. As with other legumes used heavily in grain-free diets, they have come under scrutiny due to the ongoing investigation into a potential link between legume-rich recipes and dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs. They are otherwise considered safe and nutritious.
