Apple

Apple is a nutritious fruit that is safe and well tolerated by most dogs. It provides dietary fibre (including pectin), vitamin C, potassium and various antioxidants. The natural sugars in apple are present at relatively low levels once incorporated into a complete food. Apple is used in some dog foods to add natural flavour and a modest nutritional boost. Seeds and cores should be avoided as apple seeds contain trace amounts of cyanogenic compounds, though this is not a concern in processed dog food.
