Phosphoric Acid

Poor Ingredient

Phosphoric acid is an inorganic acid used in dog food as an acidity regulator and preservative. While phosphorus is an essential mineral for dogs, phosphoric acid is a highly processed additive rather than a nutritional source, and its use is generally considered unnecessary in a well-formulated diet. High phosphorus intake is a concern for dogs with kidney disease, as impaired kidneys struggle to excrete excess phosphorus. Its presence in dog food is not considered a mark of quality.
