Potassium Chloride

Potassium chloride is a mineral salt used in dog food as a source of potassium, an essential electrolyte that supports nerve function, muscle contraction and fluid balance. It is commonly added to complete dog foods to ensure they meet minimum potassium requirements, particularly in recipes where the natural potassium content from ingredients is low. At appropriate levels it is safe and necessary; it is also sometimes used as a salt substitute to reduce sodium content.
