Linseed

Good Ingredient

Linseed (also known as flaxseed) is a plant-based source of alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a short-chain omega-3 fatty acid. It also provides dietary fibre, lignans and a range of minerals. While dogs can convert some ALA into the more beneficial long-chain omega-3s EPA and DHA, this conversion is relatively inefficient, so linseed is not an equivalent substitute for fish oil. It is nonetheless a useful addition to dog food that can support coat health and digestive regularity.
